Healthcare in Rural Dominican Communities

For over 40 years, Intercultural Nursing Inc has been providing care to the nations of the Dominican Republic and Haiti. More recently, INI has exclusively worked with the Dominican community of El Cercado.

Over the course of six days, our team was able to see and treat over 500 people in clinics hosted at schools, churches, and local homes. The main ailments treated consisted of cough and cold symptoms, hypertension and diabetes, bacterial, parasitic and fungal infections, wounds, women’s heath, and more. Often times clean water is not readily available which lead to many of the infections listed above. However, we are able to provide patients with the medication and education needed to help keep them healthy.

These clinics are made possible with the collaboration of local partner, Social Ministry El Cercado and our volunteers.
